Elektron B2 Neo Bayonet Mount Cutting System

Two Bayonet Tools for Maximum Versatility

With two bayonet tool holder modules, the Electron B2 Neo is at home in a huge range of industries from window furnishings and short-run packaging to general canvas, composites, PVC and upholstery.

If you need a multi-tool cutter which takes powered tool as well as unpowered, then the Elektron B2 will work for you.

Multi-Tool Versatility

The Elektron B2 Neo has two bayonet holders so it can take a mix of powered and un-powered tools to take on a huge number of tasks from cut and crease work with corrugated packaging to satellite MLI blanket ultrasonic cut and sealing.

With most cut and seal work on window furnishing materials, the Elektron B2 carries a powered ultrasonic tool in one holder and an unpowered creasing or crush cutting tool in the other.

For more esoteric applications like MLI blankets, the Elektron B2 can take a cutting ultrasonic tool in one holder, a sealing ultrasonic tool in the other and be fitted with a sign blade holder and inkjet print head as well.

The bayonet tool holder can take drop-in reciprocating knives, both electric and pneumatic as well as ultrasonic tools, powered rotary blade cutters and plunge cut tools. In addition you can fit the normal range of unpowered cutting tools like rotary (pizza) blade holders (18mm, 28mm, 45mm), drag blades and  creasing tools.

Advantages

The Future-proof Solution

The Elektron B2 Neo is a two steered tool holder cutter which for sure will take all the tools you think you need… (and the others too).

Long Service Life

Engineered without compromise, the bayonet tool holder module has been made for almost three decades without any significant change.

Very low maintenance

The Elektron gantry is designed for low maintenance. The drive system is belt driven with no hard-to-replace and rapidly-wearing gears to worry about.

Thick and Thin Materials

Rotary blade tools are remarkably versatile but there are some materials, especially tough and thick materials and some types of work where more grunt is needed. Reciprocating blade tools can cut over 12mm (1/2") and thicker depending on the tool.

If you are cutting materials like corrugated board and corflute, a standard reciprocating blade cutter will do the work with speed and accuracy.

Ultrasonic and Beyond

Many window furnishing fabrics need an edge seal and ultrasonic tools and the reliable Elektron B2 is the undisputed industry standard normally fitted with one ultrasonic cut and seal tool and a crush-cut tool or creaser in the other tool holder.

Bayonet Mount Tools

Bayonet tools drop in from above the holder and are locked in alignment with a 1/4 turn bayonet ring. Tool changes take just a few seconds which is perfect for blade replacements.

The bayonet tool range includes both pneumatic and electric powered reciprocating blade tools, ultrasonic tools for cut and seal, powered rotary blade tools and plunge knife tools.

Almost any unpowered tool be bayonet mounted including 18mm, 28mm and 45mm rotary blades, tangential or drag knives with various depth stops for normal and high friction materials, creasing and scoring tools in a wide range of profiles.

Industries

The Elektron B1 may be a single tool holder cutter but since tool changes are quick and easy, you can change tools mid-job without a problem. The Tangent cutter control software takes care of things like cut and crease pressure and critical blade alignment.

If you only need one tool per job, the advantages of a bayonet mount are the ease of blade changing without fiddling around under the cutting head with sharps.

Packaging

The Elektron B2 Neo was made for short-run packaging and sample making. With a sensible price point, high working speeds and excellent accuracy, the Electron B2 Neo is the profitable digital cutter for packaging work.

Window Furnishings

The Elektron B2 Neo has been cutting window shades, blinds and screens for almost 25 years and hundreds are in use around the world in wholesale blind makers for reliable and cost effective cut and seal operations.

Aerospace

MLI or Multi-layer Insulation Materials are commonly used in spacecraft for heat and radiation control. The Elektron B2 Neo may be the only ultrasonic cutter in the world which can be configured to do this exacting type of precision cut and seal work.

Composites

The Elektron B2 Ultra is such a versatile machine that it often finds a place working with composite materials where it's necessary to cut not only glass, carbon and Kevlar but also thicker core materials as well.

Software, Nesting and Technology

Nesting and Control

Aeronaut's Tangent software is the key to reducing fabric waste and Tangent's powerful and user friendly cutter control is essential to increase production.

Autonesting

Fast and efficient autonesting can pay for a cutting system in months if your fabric is expensive - and isn't waste fabric the most expensive fabric in your business?

Rapid Patterning

Aeronaut has developed rapid patterning software and CAD plugins to reduce the design to cut time down to a few minutes on complex patterns.

Autotracing Patterns

Aeronaut's revolutionary SiliconEye machine vision software can accurately trace and digitise a table full of patterns in seconds.

Aligning Patterns

With Aeronaut's full-table or gantry mounted machine vision systems, aligning cut profiles to patterned fabric or digitally printed material is simple.

Inkjet Printing

Inkjet printing is the fastest way to do pattern numbers, markings and reference text on almost any fabric.

Why Automate?

Most of the benefits of automation are obvious, others less so.

  • Automation will increase productivity without increasing staff numbers while at the same time reducing waste, mistakes and staff stress at busy times.
  • If you don't want growth, automation can let you produce the same number of good quality products with fewer staff.
  • Automation reduces your reliability on key workers and conventional skills while attracting another generation of workers who might be entirely happy with computers but less so pushing a pair of scissors.
  • Automation adds value to a business since the IP, designs and patterns are all digitised and can be stored off-site.
  • Cutting accurate patterns no longer depends on key workers. Aeronaut cutter are easy to operate so many people can run a cutter and saved jobs can be easily  recut.
  • Automation means you can do more markings and more markings means faster, more accurate and more reliable assembly. The cutting and marking process may take a while longer but the sewing, welding or bonding operations are much faster.

Why Aeronaut?

  • Apart from the obvious reason that Aeronaut has some of the best people around in sales, design, software and support…
  • Aeronaut cutters are legendarily reliable. We've got dozens of cutters over 20 years old which are still doing the same reliable job for their owners.
  • The cost of ownership of an Aeronaut cutter is very low. Upgrades, spares and service are readily available even for 30 year old machines.
  • Over a third of new machine orders are from customers who already own at least one Aeronaut cutter, something which applies across the board from NASA contractors to the boat cover maker down the road.
  • Aeronaut's cutters are rationally designed machines. As one customer said, "if we'd bought another make of cutter, we'd have spent more on plastic covers than we did on our whole machine".
  • Aeronaut cutters may be overbuilt, like a '70s Mercedes and there's a sense of security in knowing that your 3 metre wide cutter is also working somewhere else at 6 metres wide.
  • If it's yellow, it doesn't break! 90% of components are made in-house on one of 5 CNC machines, most of which are German 5 axis machining centres. If we made it once, we can make it again.
