Elektron Quattro Multi Tool Cutter
The Swiss army knife of automated cutters.
The Elektron Quattro computer-controlled cutter from Aeronaut carries a huge range of tools on the head and since they're all quick-change Cam-lock tools, you can fit any other tool in just a few seconds.
The Elektron Quattro is available with two, three or four steered tool axes and comes with one concentric pen holder. It's possible to fit an inkjet printer, Cyclops machine vision camera and more pens on the front plate to give you a seriously flexible, hard working and reliable cutter.
Future proofing your cutting room starts here.
While there are other multi-tool cutters on the market, none are as versatile as the Elektron Quattro. Four steered tool axes and a pen holder is just the start.
Featuring Aeronaut's Cam-lock quick-change tooling system, tools from blades to drill punches can be fitted and changed in seconds. These tools lock positively and firmly in place, ensuring perfect alignment of blade height and angle.
You can fit a wide range of automatically changed tools to the same machine, including rotary (pizza) blade holders in 18mm, 28mm, and 45mm diameters, drag blade holders, creasing tools, and even a Z-axis drill punch. This feature maximises the machine’s performance and versatility.
A tool set comprising a rotary blade, drag blade, creasing tool and drill punch can be easily and quickly reconfigured to be a single blade tool and three different sized drill punches, something few if any other cutters can do.
Additional tools such as inkjet print heads, more pens and machine vision cameras can be fitted to the Quattro's front plate.
All Aeronaut cutters are equipped with a concentric pen adaptor, capable of holding a wide range of markers, from ballpoint pens to paint markers. This adaptor allows you to change marker types without altering critical seam allowances.
The Elektron Quattro's compact tool head means you lose little factory space for the benefit of more tools on the head.

Engineered without compromise, the Elektron Quattro is built to last, delivering reliable performance over decades.
Future proof
Rapidly change between cutting tools to handle a variety of materials and tasks with ease, now and in the future. On two and three steered axis machines, additional tool axes can be installed on site.
Very low maintenance
The Elektron Quattro is designed for low maintenance. The drive system is belt driven with no hard to replace and rapidly wearing gears to worry about.
Superior Speed and Accuracy
The unique design ensures faster cutting and greater precision compared to other single-steered plotter cutters.
Exceeds Industry Standards
The cut speeds, accuracy and repeatability of the Elektron Quattro meet or exceed the most exacting requirements of aerospace textile cutting.
Cam-lock Quick Change Tools
On the Elektron Quattro, tools are changed automatically under software control. However Cam-lock tools can be changed by hand in a few seconds so you can fit the tools you need, when you need.
The Cam-lock tool range includes 18mm, 28mm and 45mm rotary blades, tangential or drag knives with various depth stops for normal and high friction materials, creasing and scoring tools in a wide range of profiles and drill-punch sizes from pin to over 25mm. Drill-punch inserts are easy to sharpen and exchange.
Industries
If the budget allows, a multi-tool cutter like the Elektron Quattro is the sensible choice to handle the widest range of jobs. Though a rotary blade tool is the most widely used cutting technology with technical textiles, there are many occasions when you might want to use a small diameter rotary blade for details or a drag blade for even smaller shapes. A creasing tool can be used on almost all firm or sized textiles. Because drill punches turn while they are cutting, not much pressure is required to punch most materials. Tool axes can be fitted with a solid ejector rod top stop the punch blocking up. The Elektron Quattro will do it all.
Tension Membranes
Tension membrane fabric is almost always wide-width. Fabric with a glass fibre core needs a powerful and still gantry for reliable and accurate cutting. Since accurate seam allowances are essential, a concentric marker holder is a necessity.
Shade & Awnings
Most shade work will be PVC, polycotton and other materials where a versatile multi-tool cutter is the best investment. Products made from mesh fabric cut very well and even knitted materials cut be cut with a 45mm rotary blade and full vacuum hold down is seldom required.
PVC & Hypalon
PVC & Hypalon products can require a few tools to get the best results for easy fabrication starting with an accurate marker to do seam lines, pattern numbers and details. A drill punch is often required as is a drag blade for small shapes with a couple of diameters of rotary blade tools to complete the job.
Truck Curtains
Truck side curtains are made for automatic cutting. A job which takes hours by hand can be cut accurately and repeatably in a few minutes. Almost always, a rotary blade or two and a drag blade will do the cutting with an accurate marker for doing the straps and fixings.

Software, Nesting and Technology
Nesting and Control
Aeronaut's Tangent software is the key to reducing fabric waste and Tangent's powerful and user friendly cutter control is essential to increase production.
Autonesting
Fast and efficient autonesting can pay for a cutting system in months if your fabric is expensive - and isn't waste fabric the most expensive fabric in your business?
Rapid Patterning
Aeronaut has developed rapid patterning software and CAD plugins to reduce the design to cut time down to a few minutes on complex patterns.
Autotracing Patterns
Aeronaut's revolutionary SiliconEye machine vision software can accurately trace and digitise a table full of patterns in seconds.
Aligning Patterns
With Aeronaut's full-table or gantry mounted machine vision systems, aligning cut profiles to patterned fabric or digitally printed material is simple.
Inkjet Printing
Inkjet printing is the fastest way to do pattern numbers, markings and reference text on almost any fabric.
Why Automate?
Most of the benefits of automation are obvious, others less so.
- Automation will increase productivity without increasing staff numbers while at the same time reducing waste, mistakes and staff stress at busy times.
- If you don't want growth, automation can let you produce the same number of good quality products with fewer staff.
- Automation reduces your reliability on key workers and conventional skills while attracting another generation of workers who might be entirely happy with computers but less so pushing a pair of scissors.
- Automation adds value to a business since the IP, designs and patterns are all digitised and can be stored off-site.
- Cutting accurate patterns no longer depends on key workers. Aeronaut cutter are easy to operate so many people can run a cutter and saved jobs can be easily recut.
- Automation means you can do more markings and more markings means faster, more accurate and more reliable assembly. The cutting and marking process may take a while longer but the sewing, welding or bonding operations are much faster.
Why Aeronaut?
- Apart from the obvious reason that Aeronaut has some of the best people around in sales, design, software and support…
- Aeronaut cutters are legendarily reliable. We've got dozens of cutters over 20 years old which are still doing the same reliable job for their owners.
- The cost of ownership of an Aeronaut cutter is very low. Upgrades, spares and service are readily available even for 30 year old machines.
- Over a third of new machine orders are from customers who already own at least one Aeronaut cutter, something which applies across the board from NASA contractors to the boat cover maker down the road.
- Aeronaut's cutters are rationally designed machines. As one customer said, "if we'd bought another make of cutter, we'd have spent more on plastic covers than we did on our whole machine".
- Aeronaut cutters may be overbuilt, like a '70s Mercedes and there's a sense of security in knowing that your 3 metre wide cutter is also working somewhere else at 6 metres wide.
- If it's yellow, it doesn't break! 90% of components are made in-house on one of 5 CNC machines, most of which are German 5 axis machining centres. If we made it once, we can make it again.
